"A unique collection of poems whose main subject is an American managing a large ranch in Argentina. Generally an unsentimental account of chores, local workers and natural wonders, Page presents striking and convincing images and diction. The Wild West is still alive, but it’s in South America.” – Ed Ochester

Criticize Of Books A Ranch Bordering the Salty River
Endorsement Blurbs For Stephen Page's "A Ranch Bordering the Salty River"Half Frost, half Hemingway, Stephen Page tells a gripping tale in verse of a rancher disenchanted with the details of administering land, its livestock, and its unreliable laborers, only to be called by the mythic lure of the nearby Wood and the amorphous deity that emerges to encounter him.  The writing here is clean and lovely and permanent, which is rare in storytelling and rarer still in poetry. A Ranch Bordering the Salty River(Finishing Line Press) is a collection of twenty finely wrought poems by Stephen Page that tell the story of a man seeking paradise within a fallen world. I'll be the first to say I'm not a big fan of poetry. To me this is so much more, though. The story itself weaves and wanders and is so vivid. The author definitely has a way with words and I look forward to reading more from him in the future.

This little gem is a unique collection of poems told by a poet/rancher/old school friend. A New Years resolution to get back to reading has led me here .... finally. Back to the good stuff. -- By Patricia A. Krause Beautiful work of art crafted in clean, clear & graceful poetry. "Wolfed this down" in 20 minutes when I received it. Had to re-read just to immerse myself & be transported to these places & experiences again. Felt the experience of being there (I could actually smell the

"Page's entire work creates a sort of cowboy legend. His characters The Tattler, Horse Thief, Malinger, and Bad Guys are interesting although clearly they are only vehicles for Jonathan and his stories. Though it must be said, they are still fun to read about. Tattler in particular is a delightfully vicious little goblin..."
