Narration Supposing Books The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall

When twelve-year-old Florence boards the crowded horse-drawn coach in London, she looks forward to a new life with her great uncle and aunt at Crutchfield Hall, an old manor house in the English countryside. Anything will be better, she thinks, than the grim London orphanage where she has lived since her parents' death. But Florence doesn't expect the ghost of her cousin Sophia, who haunts the cavernous rooms and dimly lit hallways of Crutchfield and concocts a plan to use Florence to help her achieve her murderous goals. Will Florence be able to convince the others in the household of the imminent danger and stop Sophia before it's too late?

Assess Out Of Books The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall
A perfect middle grade novel for students who love mystery and suspense, but have moved out of the Goosebumps phase! I have been looking for one of these for a while. The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall is a chilling story of a young girl's untimely death, and the vengeance she seeks against her brother. Set in London, the story follows Florence, who has just come to live with her Uncle after being rescued from an orphanage. Florence, James and Sophia all come to life on the pages so very well. It will

The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall is a short haunting story, that reminded me a little bit of Northanger Abbey. The dark road to the house and the exterior of it had a familiar touch which I adored. Florence is a young girl who lives in a orphanage, but one day out of the blue shes going to live with her great uncle and aunt at Crutchfield Hall. At Crutchfield Hall she finds out that she isnt allowed to see her cousin James and feels that someone is haunting the place. Its up to Florence to stop the

not as dark & scary as i wanted, but definitely a quick read.

Check out my other reviews, discussions and link ups at Fantasy of the Silver Dragon. This was a fairly quick read, though not up to the usual scary standards I've come to expect from this author. There was a bit of suspense, but it never got to even slightly creepy. All the workers at the Hall seemed to know Sophia's ghost was haunting them, and had been a wicked child. But Florence's Aunt and Uncle had no idea.Florence's Aunt hated her on sight, and believed the worst about her. While at the

3.5 Stars → Spooky Victorian ghost story aimed at middle grade readers. I enjoyed it, though I think the ending could have been better. There were lessons that could have been learned by the adults and kids regarding how the vengeful spirit was treated while living.

4 STARS!!!This was pretty creepy! I read it along with the audio book and the narrator was perfect, I think that's why I enjoyed it so much. I'd never read anything by Mary Downing Hahn before but have been getting recommended her for years. I'm glad this was first of hers because it was so atmospheric and spooky and took place in the Victorian era, which is one of my favorite eras. My one issue with this book is that I think it could've been a lot darker and a twist would've been perfect, but

This truly is a much more traditional Victorian ghost story and I loved it! While it very much carried a Secret Garden element do it with the sickly brother never coming out of his room, that's pretty much where the similarities end.Florence is stuck in a conundrum, having left her friends at the orphanage to be alone in an old house with a rather doting uncle and an aunt that hates her, not to mention a cousin she never sees and a dead cousin that won't leave her alone. She has no one to
